story

Dear Destiny is a short film I directed, storyboarded, and animated for my final capstone project at UT Dallas. The story follows a young girl named Destiny as she writes a letter to her future self after the recent loss of her father. While expressing her thoughts concerning what could be in the envelope he left her, her imagination takes control and sends her on a journey unlike any other. With her heart, curiosity, and Gregory the bear she will learn the value of staying true to herself.

development

When developing the story, I wanted to make a film that I wanted to see when I was a kid. Growing up, I never had a lot of shows or movies with an authentic Black protagonist so I wanted apply those elements into this film. I also wanted to make it a film for all ages so that anyone can resonate with its realistic and imaginative elements.

MARKETING

When I began promoting the release of the short, I wanted it to feel as if it was actually releasing in theaters. I created a social media campaign with a trailer, an instagram account and designed posters and banners.
